FIVE FOOT TWELVE

Transporting us to a world where perception is reality, this charged new play from Joni Ayton-Kent unpacks the nuance and complexities of sex, liberty and shame in the final years of Section 28. From West Suffolk, to London, to Greece and back again, Five Foot Twelve charted the rise and fall of former pop-star Melina and the lengths that trans people were and are forced to go to protect their lives and livelihoods. Stewardson’s sound design contrasted the dreamlike romance of Greek folk music and euphoric 90s dance pop with the domineering industrial nightmare of distorted recorded equipment, pushed into cacophony.
